We are in Seoul!

Brent writing - We arrived in Seoul around 3:30PM local time, a little tired but excited. I was able to sleep for about 3 hours but Sharon got no sleep was up for about 30 hours. The Incheon Airport was very modern and easy to navigate. We followed the crowd and found the Immigration line. Got our luggage within a few minutes and off we went...smooth sailing.

Mr. Lee from the Holt agency picked us up at the airport and took us to our hotel. Our room is a nice size and is described at a '2 Bedroom Apartment', but was really a room with 2 beds. Perfect for us, with a kitchenette, fridge/freezer and washer. A couple of unique things provided in the room: slippers and a scale (you'll have to do the kg/lb conversion to figure our Sharon's weight).

Sharon was so excited to be here and ready to go explore all the Seoul had to offer!

After about an hour of rest for Sharon (while I tried to figure out how to run the AC and appliance with the Korean controls) we headed out for dinner. We found a very small restaurant and the only thing we could interpret on the menu was bi-bim-bap...so guess what we had? It was very good.

We ventured out into the street to explore a bit and get the lay of the land. There are just so many interesting things to see. We felt space even walking through the back alleys.

This week there are lanterns all over the city and different festivals, some celebrating Buddha's birthday. There is a temple close to our hotel that had thousands of lanterns. Very interesting to see.

When we got back to the hotel, Sharon headed to bed. I got to Skype with mom and dad and the girls. Seems like a week since we saw them. Looking forward to the city tour tomorrow!

  2. Beautiful... it is fantastic to be kept informed like this. We get a taste of what it's like as we are praying and then able to be with you on this journey in a virtual way as well. Thank you! I think all those lanterns are to help celebrate your special occasion <3
